Even though this is week 3 of pregnancy, your baby was more than likely conceived yesterday! Yes, its confusing!
The baby is conceived yesterday or today! Mum hasn’t even missed her period and doesn’t know she’s pregnant… but a home pregnancy test can help an eager mum know pretty quickly!
In Ireland all mums are entitled to free maternity care (antenatal visits, labour, delivery and postnatal care), usually split between a hospital and a private physician. Check with your hospital about parenting classes to prepare you for labour, delivery and your new role as parents!
One must be cautious of using medications during pregnancy… but not all cross the placenta. [1] If you have a chronic condition you may need to continue your medication, so speak to your doctor and discuss your alternatives to keep mum and baby healthy.[2]
