The placenta is still supplying antibodies to guard against infection after birth

Your arm and leg muscles are strong. Boys usually weigh a little more than girls by week 37.[1] Small breast buds are present on both sexes. Head hair is now thick.[2]

You weigh around 3kg, and could be up to 50cm long. Your brain is still growing, at a rapid pace that will continue for the first three years of life. Skin is now turning white, even dark-skinned babies will appear paler at birth before their pigment develops.[3]

The placenta is still supplying antibodies to guard against infection after birth; breast-fed babies will receive additional antibodies from the mother.[4]
